We all know that exercise is important and we all know that certain foods are better for us than others.
Why is it then that most of us end up eating the wrong things and exercising rarely?
Maybe it can be summed up in one word…
…TIME
Not enough time to exercise, not enough time to prepare the right food, it’s quicker and easier to get a take-away, buy a can of fizzy drink, eat late at night etc etc
And as we get older the challenges of everyday life tend to get in the way even more. I’ll just do this first…
I’m sure we’ve all been there.
Before we know it the exercise regime (if there ever was one!) has become something we used to do in the past.
With all good intentions, weeks become months and still the regular exercise isn’t taking place.
Of course, being fit is important for everyone but if you ride motorbikes the need is even greater. It looks easy enough but riding a bike requires a fair amount of strength and flexibility and the concentration required to avoid mistakes, which could be extremely costly, is far greater than if closeted in a warm car.
Having the right fuel (food and drink) for your body is essential, especially on a long ride, and will definitely benefit both your physical ability and mental agility.
If you have taken to riding a motorbike at a later stage in life, or maybe returned to bikes after a long rest, it is perhaps more important that you think about your physical fitness. Things we all take for granted when we are younger become more difficult. Riding in the same position for long periods of time becomes much more difficult and we can find we have aches and pains for days afterwards.
With some relevant stretches and following a basic exercise regime you’ll be surprised how easy it is to become BikersFit. It is only necessary to start slowly, allocating just 15-20 minutes every few days. Build it into your routine so it becomes a habit before stepping up to something a bit more strenuous.
I’d love to hear from you, whether you are new to motorbikes or have been riding for years, especially if you have any difficulty riding your bike due to aches and pains. Let me know in the comments section below.
All the best
